With over 20 million monthly active users, primarily on Android, ads generate 95% of Instabridge's revenue.

The challenge

Instabridge team aimed to optimize its ad format mix to increase revenue while enhancing user experience and maintaining user retention. They were looking for formats that aligned well with their business model of providing internet access at no monetary cost.

The approach

Instabridge team implemented rewarded Interstitial ads, a format that allows users to gain internet access at no monetary cost by watching an ad, playing directly into their core business model and mission. They carefully managed the ad frequency, adjusting it based on user click-through rates. The format proved a perfect fit, providing significant revenue, approximately 15% of their total, making it their second biggest source after interstitial ads. This resulted in an approximate 10% uplift in overall revenue. The format also had a slightly positive impact on user retention, increasing it by around 2%.
