Candy Games doubles revenue and boosts +30% retention with AdMob & Firebase

Candy Games, founded in 2018, is a mobile game developer specializing in interactive leisure and entertainment software. Their title, "Fast & Grand” is a fast growing multiplayer open-world racing game.

The challenge

Candy Games had developed an engaging core racing simulation game, but as a small two-person studio, they initially lacked significant monetization experience. They were seeing organic growth, yet remained cautious about integrating ads, concerned it might negatively impact their Play Store reviews and organic downloads.

Candy Games had developed an engaging core racing simulation game, but as a small two-person studio, they initially lacked significant monetization experience. They were seeing organic growth, yet remained cautious about integrating ads, concerned it might negatively impact their Play Store reviews and organic downloads.

The approach

Candy Games used Firebase A/B tests to better understand how to implement banner ads, which successfully boosted ad revenue by 105% over just three months while maintaining a positive user experience. They then reinvested this revenue into user acquisition and optimized the app based on those user segments, leading to increased in-app ad revenue (IAA), in-app purchases (IAP), and better player retention.

    Impact on retention and engagement

AdMob’s banner ads performed really well for us, generating as much revenue as interstitial ads. We also created specific audience segments for our user acquisition campaigns. This led to a 30% increase in in-app purchase revenue and improved our D4 retention from 26% to 28% for users from those campaigns.
